Synopsis
Soul Thief is a story with complicated familial bonds in a small community where people are driven by superstition. Set in 1990s Boca Samí, 19 year-old Markieta works in the family fishing business. However, her newfound passion for photography has her neglecting her duties, putting a strain on her (already complicated) relationship with her sister Ivy. This brings her at odds with the community as photographers are believed to steal souls. She quickly learns there is a secret regarding her camera; a family heirloom. Chaos unfolds in Boca, as some people seem to lose their sense of self. Markieta’s
alcoholic mother Chita, who suffers from a broken heart, seems to be the key to all this mystery. Could there be any truth to this old wives tale?
